Hi everyone.
It’s August.
Organizing anything in August other than escaping to a remote beach just doesn’t seem like a good idea. As in my body is rejecting it on a cellular level.
And anyway, theaters are mostly dark this month. Or showing things that I am not so excited about seeing.
So…we will be dark as well, in terms of a live event. We will instead embrace our book club tendencies. I will be reading Susan Rethorst’s new book:
Yummmmm.
sweet. I’ve had it on order for a few weeks so hopefully it will arrive soon. Long live book club!
hurrah! the ordering service for that book is ridiculous, no? but worth it…
Yes. It should be more readily available. Especially because I imagine it could be good for students… which goes back to teaching… which goes back to how awesome your summer classes sounded.
yay, this book is so good. i might just have to read it again. but i agree about the availability. i’ve recommended it to so many people, but i’m not sure if any of them have actually made it through the ordering process…
oh that’s so nice of you to say, Aynsley! I had such good students … makes it easy.
I find Rethorst to be fabulously re-readable, Siobhan. If you can get your hands on the book.
I love the idea of The Performance Club | Book Club. I’m currently reading Carr’s David Wojnarowicz biography. It is amazingly delicious.
Glad to hear it, and not surprised – she is a delicious writer! I am looking forward to reading that in the fall. Hmmm. maybe we should do more of an official book club ….
just saw this – I WISH it were more easily available. Contact Quarterly is going to have it soon, that should help…and TX for liking it.!!
Susan
